The Harp and Voice Department at The Purcell School offers an exceptional and supportive environment where young musicians can develop their talents to the highest level. Whether as harpists or classical singers, students benefit from expert tuition, varied performance opportunities and a nurturing musical community.
Our harp faculty features distinguished solo and orchestral performers who are also highly skilled educators. Our voice faculty comprises leading professional singers and teachers, many of whom also work with top conservatoires. Together, they provide tailored, high-quality training across a broad repertoire.
Notable alumnae include celebrated harpists Catrin Finch and Anne Denholm-Blair, both former Official Harpists to the Prince of Wales. Voice students go on to conservatoires, universities, and professional careers in opera, choral and solo performance.
Performance is central to the department’s work. Harp students regularly perform in recitals, chamber groups, harp ensembles and concerts, as well as participating in masterclasses with renowned harpists. Voice students enjoy similar opportunities, with regular solo performances, chamber choir projects and masterclasses with leading singers and vocal coaches.
With a curriculum spanning early to contemporary music and expert guidance every step of the way, we prepare our students for successful futures as confident, versatile and expressive musicians.
