The School aims to keep all children safe and to create an environment where students feel safe and secure. Every member of staff is trained in Safeguarding and Child Protection in order to better recognise children in need and to help accordingly.
The School has a statutory obligation to follow the policies established by Hertfordshire County Council and the procedures established by the Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children Board (HSCB) – a guide to procedure and practice for all professional staff in Hertfordshire who work with children. Their guidelines form the basis of the School’s Child Protection policy.
When issues of Child Protection have to be referred outside the school, the School will normally contact the Hertfordshire Targeted Advice Service.
Parents often receive information from their child about the welfare of other children in school. Parents with concerns about Child Protection issues should contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for Child Protection in School, Ziggi Szafranski. Parents with concerns about a member of staff should contact the Principal, Paul Bambrough, and concerns about the Principal should be referred to the Chairman of Governors, Dr Bernard Trafford.
