The School’s mission is ‘to provide young musicians of exceptional promise and talent with the best possible teaching and environment in which to fulfil their potential, irrespective of their background’ and meet its primary strategic aim of ‘enhancing the School’s reputation and facilities so that it becomes, for an ever growing number of young musicians and their parents, the specialist school of their first choice’.

The School is fortunate to receive generous support from the Department for Education (DfE) through the Music and Dance Scheme (MDS), which provides support to many students at the School according to their financial means. However, not all children are eligible, and The Purcell School aims to support them through funds donated by individuals, businesses and trusts. We are therefore reliant on the invaluable generosity of our supporters – individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations – to help these students. There is currently a shortfall in the fund, and raising money to meet this target to support these worthy students in the present economic climate is a continuing challenge.
