Corona Virus Update – Public Examinations Summer 2020

17th August Update:

Public examination provisional results are withdrawn following the Government announcement this afternoon. Students and parents will receive Schoolpost notifications today.

12th August Update:

Following the publication of A level, Pre-U and IGCSE results this week, the School recognizes that whilst many will be rightly celebrating their achievements, some students may be left feeling disappointed and confused by their results in some subjects. If any student finds themselves in this position, we encourage them and/or their families to contact us so we can explore the avenues and options available in each individual case.

The School is committed to doing everything within its power to ensure students receive a grade truly reflective of their ability. We will support appeals where this is available and appropriate, and will challenge decisions and exam board processes through Ofqual (the qualifications regulator) if we believe we are justified in so doing.

However, the first and most important step to take is to contact us and not to panic.

Update: 03/04/20

Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) have today, published updates regarding the awarding of examination grades: please see the links below. The School will respond to parents and students in more detail to these updates at the beginning of next week.

Update: 26/03/20

The Government has announced that there will be no formal exams in the summer; instead, grades will be “calculated” based on a range of data provided by schools. However, it has been left to individual exam boards to work out exactly what that means in terms of their own exams and their own courses. Until we have further information, our message to all examination students is clear: continue working as if courses were to be assessed in the usual way.
