About Naomi Sullivan
Saxophonist based in London. Happiest playing chamber music / working with other musicians.
Currently performing with with the Laefer Quartet (www.laeferquartet.com) and with Sounding Cities (www.soundingcities.com)
Naomi has worked with several chamber groups – and has joined recording projects with Flotilla, lead by Kyle Horch – www.flotilla.org.uk, Paragon Saxophone Quartet and the Gemini ensemble.
In 2007, Naomi started teaching at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and has been their Head of Saxophone since 2008. Naomi also teaches at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In 2009, she co-founded syzygy – and the quartet released: David Maslanka’s ‘Songs for the Coming Day’.
Amongst lots of collaborations – working with projects abroad has resulted in interesting projects from USA, South Africa and Europe. The Eramsus exchange programme also provided many opportunities and connections.
Naomi has spent much time in music education from early years to older years. Including projects run by BCMG, NYO, AYM, MFE, and more.
As an orchestral musician she has played with Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Halle Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra, Piccadilly Dance Orchestra, The Opera Group, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Chineke and the Orchestra of the Swan.
And studied at Chetham’s School of Music with Jim Muirhead, Royal College of Music with Kyle Horch and Northwestern University with Frederick Hemke. With studies were supported by the Countess of Munster and Help Musician’s UK.
