National Youth Orchestra 2024

Following on from last week’s edition of the Weekly Highlights, in which we celebrated Louis (Year 13, double bass), Danya (Year 13, viola) and Ella (Year 12, cello), it is with great pleasure that we announce that a further five Purcell students have joined the National Youth Orchestra’s 2024 intake.

Theadora (Year 13, viola), Isabella (Year 12, second violin), Rhea (Year 13, oboe), Madeleine (Year 11, violin) and Thomas (Year 12, clarinet) will join the 160 strong ‘world’s greatest orchestra of teenagers’ for the 2024 season. In addition, Rhea has been awarded Joint Principal oboe, and Isabella has been asked to join the NYO on their leadership residencies which take place prior to the full orchestra courses. Our congratulations to all of our young NYO players! We are hugely pleased for you, and tremendously proud.

Purcell Pianist Triumphs in International Piano Competition

We were delighted to hear that Year 12 pianist Phoebe was awarded the First Prize Premio Enrico Galletta at the VII Livorno Piano Competition in Italy last weekend. In addition to this honour, she also had the privilege to be invited to perform at the Gala Concert and Award Ceremony held in the beautiful Teatro Goldoni Sala Goldonetta.

Heartfelt congratulations to Phoebe who studies at Purcell under Caterina Grewe.
