Avison Tea Party
On Saturday 9th October, the Avison Tearooms were open and Assistant Houseparent Mrs Cook put on a fabulous spread for everyone.
It was the last Saturday of a very busy half term and all in Avison house enjoyed and appreciated this little soiree. Table cloths were laid and the very best china dug out and dusted off. This was indeed a rare opportunity for all of Avison to sit down, relax and enjoy a very sophisticated time. Many even entertained us with some fabulous piano playing.
Judging by how much the Avison boarders (and houseparents!) enjoyed the tea party, we think it may become a regular event.
Many thanks to Mrs Cook for looking after everyone so well.
Young Verona Piano Competition for New Talents
Last weekend Year 10 pianist Phoebe was selected for the final phase of the 1st edition of the Young Verona Piano Competition for New Talents and is delighted to have become a Second Prize Winner. Our congratulations to Phoebe.
4th New Talent British International Youth Music Competition and Festival
We were very proud to hear earlier this week that Year 12 pianist Thomas had won 1st Prize at the 4th New Talent British International Youth Music Competition and Festival, and that Year 11 cellist Da In had been awarded a Participation Prize. A huge well done to you both!
Award for Young Musicians
Earlier this term, Year 8 pianist Celeste became the recipient of an Award for Young Musicians. The sum bestowed will allow Celeste to invest in her own piano. We are so very pleased for her.
