Chineke! Junior Orchestra BGT Semi-Final

Earlier this year the Chineke! Junior Orchestra, a youth orchestra of Black, Asian and ethnically diverse players aged 11-22, were invited to audition for Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) at the London Palladium. We are delighted to be able to share the news that they have reached the semi-finals! The orchestra, whose members include Purcell students Danya, Elise, Louis (all Year 10) and Ella (Year 12), will perform and compete in this Saturday’s show (26th September). Please do tune in to ITV or STV at 8 pm to support this group of exceptionally talented young musicians. We wish them the very best of luck!

Danya (Year 10) has also made the following promotional video as part of the orchestra’s BGT bid.

Charles Sewart and Debbie Shah Evening Recital

On Monday evening, Sunley House and Purcell staff were treated to a fantastic evening of music thanks to Head of Strings Charles Sewart (violin) and Purcell Accompanist and Piano Teacher Debbie Shah (piano). Charles and Debbie performed two sonatas for violin and piano. They began with Respighi’s Violin Sonata in B Minor and ended with Poulenc’s Violin Sonata. We are incredibly grateful to them both for giving their time and talent so generously.
