Once again, The Purcell School is delighted to celebrate the success of its Year 13 cohort and wish them well as they move on to new and exciting adventures elsewhere. Following the publication of ‘A’ Level and Pre-U results, the School is delighted to have achieved an overall pass rate of 95% with an impressive 48% at grades A* or A (or equivalent). Eight students achieved A* – A in all their subjects, a truly magnificent achievement. The vast majority of leavers will be taking up conservatoire places in the autumn, some 77% of them having been awarded scholarships. Of those applying to university, places have been successfully secured at Oxford, SOAS and Kings College, London.

Principal of the School, Paul Bambrough said “We are extremely proud of our Year 13 students and all they have achieved here, both musically and academically. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, dedication and desire to succeed combined with the expert guidance offered by a supportive and experienced staff. That so many of them are to take up places at their conservatoire or university of choice is a tremendous achievement. We wish them well and remind them that, as part of the Purcell family, they are always welcome to visit us in the future”.

The School is also pleased to report outstanding success in this year’s GSCE Music results (taken in Year 10) which saw 100% of students achieving grades A* or A.

In Year 11, the School has achieved an overall pass rate of 94% (compared to the national average 67.3%) with 55% at grades 9-7 (or A*/A equivalent) compared to the national average 20.8% (grades 7-9). With 84% of grades in the A*-B (9-5) category, the School is proud to achieve results which are consistently higher than the national average.
