We would like to extend our congratulations to Sixth former Daniel Swani who joins the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) family as a Junior Artist.

LPO Junior Artists is a new programme offered by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. It was developed to provide young promising musicians from backgrounds usually underrepresented in professional UK orchestras with orchestral experience. The programme provides its participants with mentorship, professional skills workshops, support and much more in order to demystify the orchestral sector.

Timothy Walker, CEO of LPO, describes the programme as a “logical extension of the Orchestra’s education work across South London that for many years has brought world-class musicians and educators to schools across the region, and our professional development schemes such as Foyle Future Firsts. The LPO believes that it has a duty to provide pathways into the profession for talented young players from all backgrounds. Everyone at the LPO looks forward to watching the progress of our first eight musicians on the scheme and planning on its expansion from autumn 2017.”
