The Purcell School’s Composition Department is enormously grateful to Adrian Connell and Universal Edition in London and Vienna, who have generously made it possible for our young composers to study Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony, using Universal Edition’s beautiful scores.

Many younger people are unaware of the valuable work of publishers such as Universal Edition, who support emerging composers and promote the music of the future. Due to internet downloading, it is becoming significantly harder for publishers to assist new composers in the same way.

The Purcell School’s Composition Department would like to urge young people to try, whenever possible, to buy scores rather than download them. A real score is a beautiful thing to own and by purchasing one, you can help publishers to continue supporting music and culture for future generations.
