For the second year running, The Purcell School has featured in a special event forming part of the Deal Festival. Pupils performed solo items and chamber music to a highly appreciative audience in the beautiful surroundings of Deal’s historic Town Hall, a building dating from 1803.

After a spirited performance by Eugenie Dalgleish, Chian Chian Hsu and Chea Woom Lee of the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Op. 49 Trio, the audience heard Ravel’s Tzigane performed by Ruth Muller, Malcolm Arnold’s Sonatina for clarinet and piano performed by Michael Madigan, two movements from Ravel’s G major Violin Sonata, Debussy’s Feux d’artifice, and final movement of Prokofiev’s Piano Sonata No. 7, performed by Alim Beisembayev.

Performers were treated to fish and chips at a beach-side restaurant before the concert and ice-cream afterwards, making for a classic afternoon at the seaside.
