Congratulations to Lower Sixth pianist, Bocheng Wang, who has won the Croydon Performing Arts Festival Concerto Competition.  Bocheng won over the judges with his performance of Prokofiev‘s notoriously difficult 3rd Piano Concerto.  The prize includes £500 and engagements with the London Mozart Players and the Dulwich Symphony Orchestra.  He will also be invited to perform at a lunchtime concert at the Fairfield Halls.

Bocheng joined The Purcell School in 2012, where he studies with Christopher Elton.  He also studies at The Royal Academy of Music Junior Department.  Since joining The Purcell School, Bocheng has won 3rd Prize at the 4th Young Pianist of the North International Piano Competition, 1st Prize at the Royal Academy of Music’s Iris Dyer Piano Competition, and was a finalist in the senior category of Etelingen International Piano Competition.

Bocheng’s studies at The Purcell School are supported via the school’s Scholarship Fund by The Samuel Gardner Memorial Trust.
