An Inspiring Academic Programme

At The Purcell School, we offer a balanced education that integrates specialist musical training with a strong academic programme. Depending on age and individual needs, students typically spend between 25% and 50% of their timetabled week on music, with the remainder devoted to core subjects such as mathematics, English, sciences, languages and humanities.

Small class sizes enable personalised attention from our experienced teaching staff, and academic progress is closely monitored. Daily homework is supported by structured time in the boarding houses, and parents receive regular progress updates.

While many students go on to conservatoires or study music at university, our curriculum is designed to keep wider options open. Recent leavers have also progressed to top universities to study subjects including English, History, sciences and modern languages.

At its heart, The Purcell School values balance. We support each student’s unique journey – musical and academic – with flexibility, ambition and care.
