Our curriculum balances music and academics, offering a personalised experience for every student. Younger students get a solid academic foundation to excel in their GCSE and IGCSE exams. As they advance, they can immerse themselves more in practising their instruments and joining music groups, with between 25% to 50% of their time dedicated to music activities.
For GCSE, students usually take seven or eight subjects, ensuring a well-rounded education. They kick off Year 11 with IGCSE Music and finish the year with GCSEs or IGCSEs in Maths, English Language, and Science Trilogy (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics). There are also exciting optional subjects like English Literature, French, German, History, Drama and Art. All students also enjoy a weekly PE session up to Year 11.
In the Sixth Form, students dive deep into Music A Level (a subject which is compulsory) along with two other A Levels. Some may choose a fourth subject, which is great but not essential for university. We support careful planning to maintain a healthy balance between academic and music commitments. In special cases, such as for students with heavy schedules or international students, we offer a focused path with Music A Level and one other A Level in Year 13. EAL can also be an option for those needing extra English language support. Our subject offerings are diverse, including Music, Music Technology, English Literature, Maths, French, German, History, Art, Drama, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
We constantly review and refine our curriculum to keep it dynamic and responsive to student needs. While course availability depends on demand and our high teaching standards, we strive to offer a variety of exciting options.
Our school timetable is thoughtfully designed to benefit our entire community, and we aim to meet everyone’s needs as best as we can. While we can’t promise specific teachers for specific students, our dedicated staff is committed to providing an enriching educational experience.
