National Children’s Orchestra Trophy awarded to Ilai

Congratulations to year 9 pupil Ilai Avni, who received the National Children’s Orchestra Peter Clarke Memorial Trophy for 2014 and has been awarded a Leverhulme Scholarship for 2015.  He has been awarded a Leverhulme Scholarship for three consecutive years.

Ilai has been a pupil at The Purcell School since 2012, where he holds a scholarship under the Government’s Music and Dance Scheme.  He studies violin with Tatjana Goldberg, trumpet with Tony Cross, composition with Simon Speare and piano with Alla Kravchenko.

The National Children’s Orchestra is Great Britain’s premier symphony orchestra for children aged 7-13 years old. In 2012, the NCO’s Main Orchestra performed for the Queen in Westminster Hall for her Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the orchestra celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2013.
