Bassoon Voyager and Bear-faced Bassoonery at Purcell

Leading UK Bassoon soloist, Laurence Perkins led two very inspiring events at Purcell yesterday.  ‘Bassoon Voyager’, a one hour concert programme, taking us on a musical journey around the world, and ‘Bear-faced Bassoonery’, an exploration of this characterful instrument, with the aim of encouraging more young musicians to take up the bassoon as well as for those who appreciate its wonderful sound and colourful repertoire!  The two events was supported by Dawkes Music.

Laurence Perkins has been principal bassoonist with Manchester Camerata since 1974, and gives many solo concert performances throughout the UK and Europe.  He is also Bassoon Tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and at York and Nottingham Universities.
