William Fong, Head of Keyboard writes:

Thank you to the Woolf Institute for generously inviting a group of our upper 6th pianists to “An Evening with Sir András Schiff” at Draper’s Hall yesterday evening. It was a poignant occasion, in light of events in Paris over the weekend,  eloquently introduced by the founder director Dr. Ed Kessler and postcripted By Lord Woolf. They both outlined the important work the institutin does to bring people and different cultures together. On this occasion, music being the catalyst for this to happen.

Sir András Schiff’s recital was an inspiration to us all with a performance of Haydn and Schubert that was transcendental. As ever, he was generous in meeting our students after the recital and reflected on his previous visit some years ago to the Purcell School with astonishing clarity!
