test imageFrequently Asked Questions …

• What standard are you looking for?
We do not have any formal entry standards - applications and auditions are assessed very much on an individual basis. However in order to assist parents/teachers in deciding whether it is worth putting in an application for a child, we have put together the following very rough guideline:

Age 9 - minimum grade 4 standard (pianists and string players minimum grade 5)
Age 12/13 - minimum grade 7 standard (pianists and string players minimum grade 8)

• How do I go about applying for a place at the school?
To be considered for a place at the school, you must first apply for an audition. To do this you should complete the application forms, which can be found either within our prospectus or on our website, and return them to us together with a written recommendation from the instrumental teacher (and the £25 application fee). Auditions are held at the school every Thursday during the autumn and spring terms, and are generally allocated on a first come first served basis. Late auditions in the summer term may be possible depending on the availability of places.

• When is your closing date for applications?
Whilst we do not have a formal closing date for applications, we recommend that in order to avoid disappointment applications should be with us by the middle of the spring term.

• Can I come for a look around the school?
Of course! Tours of the school are given as part of the audition process. However, if you would like to come for an informal visit prior to application and are unable to make either of our Open Mornings, please get in touch and we will arrange a time for you to visit us.
