Lauren Marshall, sixth former at The Purcell School and principal composer at the National Youth Orchestra (NYO), has been commissioned to write an original piece for The Morgan Stanley Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Morgan Stanley are working with plantsman and designer Chris Beardshaw to create an organic space in which to reflect the organisations commitment to children’s education. Lauren’s piece of music will be played both live and electronically in the garden, with the live version being performed by an ensemble of NYO musicians.

Lauren and Larry Groves, composition tutor at the NYO, recently took a tour of Hidcote Gardens with Chris Beardshaw to better familiarise themselves with some of the garden’s key design concepts.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show will take place from 23rd to 27th May, and tickets are on sale now. For more information, please visit the show’s website.
