Fundraising & Development

The School's mission is "to provide young musicians of exceptional promise and talent with the best possible teaching and environment in which to fulfil their potential, irrespective of their background" and meet its primary strategic aim of "enhancing the School's reputation and facilities so that it becomes, for an ever growing number of young musicians and their parents, the specialist school of their first choice".

The school is very fortunate to receive generous support from the Department for Education (DfE) through the Music and Dance Scheme, which provides support to 143 students at the school according to their financial means. However, not all children are eligible, and the school aims to support them through funds donated by individuals, businesses and trusts. We are therefore reliant on the invaluable generosity of our supporters - individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations - to help these students.  However, there is currently a 20% shortfall in the fund and raising money to meet this target to support these worthy pupils is a continuing challenge.

How you can help

There are a number of ways in which you can support us and help our students fulfil their music potential:
  • Make a donation to help fund the education of a gifted young musician who would not otherwise be able to attend the School - see  Scholarships.
  • Help us by contributing to our development fund at the school- see Buildings Fund.
  • Remember the Purcell School in your will  - see Legacies.
  • Become a Friend of the School – membership of the Friends of The Purcell School gives many benefits, as well as helping to support our activities. Click here to find out more about the scheme

Please follow the links above for more information about these projects, and how you can help.
