The majority of pupils at the Purcell School receive substantial, means-tested scholarship assistance to ensure parents' contribution to fees is affordable. Scholarship funding is available, for those pupils who meet the eligibility criteria, under the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) Music and Dance Scheme ("MDS").
The Scheme awards means-tested grants (of up to 100% of fees) to allow the School to apply a remission to fees; the scheme is administered by the Bursar on the DCSF's behalf. Parents of prospective pupils are welcome to discuss their individual circumstances with her either when visiting the School for auditions or subsequently over the telephone, so that a broad indication of their likely contribution to fees can be provided.
Pupils who are not eligible for the MDS scheme or to whom the School has not been able to offer a place under the scheme may apply for assistance with fees from the School's Scholarships and Bursaries fund. Application forms may be obtained from the Bursar to whom they should be returned for consideration by the School's Scholarships Committee. The Committee endeavours to allocate the funding it has available for scholarships according to need and parents are therefore required to declare their financial circumstances.
