AUDITIONS

Auditions are held at the School every Thursday during term time. Applicants play to a panel consisting of the Director of Music and three other members of the Music Department (one of whom will be the appropriate Head of Department). They are required to play two pieces on their first-study instrument and one piece on their second-study. Sight-reading is tested on the first-study, and there are aural tests. Applicants are interviewed by the panel and also, separately, by the Director of Studies. Pupils whose first language is not English are interviewed by the Head of English as a Foreign Language.

On receipt of an application, we may recommend that a candidate should take a preliminary audition. This is similar to the Main Audition, but the candidiate plays to the appropriate Head of Department only. It is less pressurised than a Main Audition and can help to settle nerves.

If you have any further queries about our auditions please contact the Registrar, Karen Gumustekin.
