Congratulations to sixth-form pianist, Alim Beisembayev who has been awarded Third Prize in Category II (14 – 17 years) at the prestigious International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists. Held at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar, Germany, this competition attracts some of the world’s most talented young pianists. 

Alim was born in Kazakhstan in 1998. He began learning the piano at the age of five and studied at the Central Music School in Moscow.  He joined The Purcell School in 2010 where he studies piano with Tessa Nicholson. Alim has had success in a number of international competitions. In 2006 he won the Astana-Merey competition in Kazakhstan. In 2008 he achieved the First Prize in the Gilels-Kogan Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow.  He also won ‘Nutcracker’, an international televised competition for young musicians in Moscow.

Alim’s place at The Purcell School is supported by the Government’s Music and Dance Scheme.
